 Parkland Pool Association hosted a special event to honor the memory of long-time beloved member James Patrick (J.P.) Mulhern. J.P. Mulhern was a long-time very active member. He gave his heart to the Parkland community for many years and in many ways, including as vice president from 2000 - 2004. He was in charge of the infrastructure and could fix almost anything. His work is his legacy, but in particular, he initiated and installed the Parkland playground, of which he was justifiably proud, bringing much happiness to children then and now. We are honored to dedicate the playground to J.P. with a special ceremony, in memoriam. The dedication plaque was presented to J.P.'s family - his wife Jane, son Jamie, and daughters Jessica and Julie. The plaque will be installed on the playground. A water aerobics class will be held on Sundays at 11:30 am, beginning this Sunday, July 11th. The class will initially be led by a participant who is a former water aerobics instructor, and then will be self-led by class participants.  Event: Ice Cream Floats

Parents should keep an extra eye on their children while floats are in the water. We will have 5 new floats for sale at $5.00 each, and a pump will be available for you to blow it up. Or, bring your own pool float. We'll start by the outdoor shower just outside of the baby pool fence (at the corner of the baby pool). No Rain Date This past Sunday lots of members and guests enjoyed a try out of scuba diving at Parkland Pool! Thanks to One Ocean Scuba for running the event - it was a hit!                Kick off the season by learning something new!
Have you always wondered what it is like to breathe underwater? Join us for a Discover Scuba Diving event and raise money for Parkland Pool. This Sunday, June 6. During a pool dive with a One Ocean Scuba instructor you’ll see how easy it is to learn to dive. Sessions will start every 30 minutes starting at 11:00 am. Last session will start at 6:30 pm. Ages 10 and up. We will provide all the gear— just bring your sense of adventure, a swimsuit, and a towel. Come let us introduce you to the underwater world. Sessions are no cost to members and their guests, but participants are encouraged to donate something (suggested $10) to Parkland Pool. Sessions may fill up quickly, register at: www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c44a9ae29a5fac70-discover Parkland group swim lessons for members and non-members are available for beginner (tadpoles, goldfish), intermediate (piranha), and advanced (dolphins) swimmers (ages 3 and up).
“Parent and Me” (baby shark) lessons are also available for younger children beginning at 6 months. All instructors are lifeguards who have swim team experience as coaches, swimmers, or both! Depending on instructor availability, lessons will start as early as the first week of June and end at the end of August. Lessons are 30 minutes long. For more information, go to our Lessons page. The Parkland Pool Association annual meeting was held, virtually on Zoom, on March 14.
